Geminio Ognio: The legend of Rome

Geminio Ognio, was born on 1917. As athlete of “S.S. Lazio Nuoto”, he was champion in swimming until late 30’s. He won the Italian Water Polo Championship with “S.S Lazio”, on 1945 but the Championship has been contested for technical reasons. Team mate with Aldo Ghira and Gildo Arena in “S.S. Lazio, they have all been members of the glorious Italian National team, winner of gold in Monte Carlo, 1947 European Championships and London 1948 Olympic Games. He participated in Vienna, 1950 European Championships (4th) and he won the bronze in Helsinki, 1952 Olympics concluding his glorious carrier playing against Hungary. On 1954 he has been coach of the “Roma Esteri” team, winning its 1st Italian Championship. Geminio Ognio passed away on October 1990.
