Karlo Stipanic, born in
Crikvenica, 1941 started his carrier at the club of his home town
“Crikvenički plivački klub” and then moved to
“Mladost” Zagreb". He is considered as one of the
best goalkeepers of the 60’s, being the successor of the
legendary Yugoslavian goalies Ciro Kovacic (Olympics 48, 52, 56) and Milan Muskatirovic (Olympics 60, 64). With
Mladost Zagreb he won quite a few
National titles and also the
1968, 1969, 1970 and 1972 European Championship for National Winners. With the National team of Yugoslavia he
participated at 3 Olympic Games: Tokyo 1964 (silver), Mexico 1968 (gold) and Munich 1972 (5th). He
won two bronze medals at the
European Championships Utrecht 1966 and Barcelona 1970 and
gold at the 5th
Mediterranean Games Tunis 1967.Source: various
