Adalbert Stanescu: The champion of Timisoara

Adalbert Stanescu – Sterbenz, was born in 1924. He joined the “ILSA Timisoara” club in the 1930s and played for his club during three decades (1930s, 40s and 50s). He won six Romanian National Championships, as a key member of “ILSA's Arany Csapat” (Dream Team). He was key member of Romania's National team, participating in the Helsinki 1952, Olympic Games. Stanescu coached “ILSA's” Water Polo team from 1950 until 1970. He was also referee at both national and international level (1958-1968).
