1982: USSR discovers Women's Water Polo

The 1982 team of "MGU" of Moscow, first USSR Women Water Polo team in the history of Soviet Water Polo.

Note: During Berlin 1978, World Championships the teams of U.S, Australia, Canada, Germany and the Netherlands were invited to compete in exhibition matches. The first FINA World Cup for Women was organized in 1979. In Madrid 1986, World Championships, Women's Water Polo gained full status as an official Sport. In Sydney 2000 Women Water Polo was present for the first time into the Olympic Games.
