Abdel-Aziz El-Shafei: The captain of Egypt

Abdel-Aziz El-Shafei, born in 1938, represented Egypt as swimmer at the 1952 Helsinki Olympics and then in Rome, 1960 he was captain of the National Water polo Team. He participated at the first three Mediterranean Games held in Alexandria in 1951, Barcelona 1955 and Beirut in 1959, as well as at the Arab Games in 1953 and 1961. In Mexico 1968 he has been as an International Water Polo referee. He has been President of the Egyptian Swimming Federation and Secretary General of the National Olympic of Egypt. He was chef de mission of the Egyptian delegations to the Mediterranean Games of Izmir (1971) and Algiers (1975), to the Olympic Games in Munich, 1972. Abdel-Aziz El-Shafei has been Minister of sports from 1977 to 1979.
