Nico Firoiu: The coach who led Germany to the top.

Nico Firoiu, born in Bucharest, Romania in 1939, participated with the National team of Romania to Rome 1960 and Tokyo, 1964 Olympic Games. He took part also in Leipzig, 1962 and Utrecht, 1966 European Championships. He became assistant coach of the Romanian Head coach Anatol Grintescu in Munich, 1972 Olympic Games and then in 1974 he moved permanently to Germany. He soon he became National Head coach, reforming the German Water Polo and leading his team to gold medal in Split 1981, European Championships, bronze in Guayaquil 1982 World Championships, bronze in Los Angeles, 1984 Olympic Games and bronze in Sofia 1985 European Championships.
